Within the mobility package of the European Union, a new tachograph generation "Smart Tacho 2.0" will be introduced this year. From 21.08.2023, all newly registered vehicles must be equipped with this tachograph. 

The new Smart Tacho mainly features automatic storage of the position when crossing the border, a significant increase in the temporal scope of recording and the recording of the type of load.

•  Identification sign: Marking "GEN2 V2" in the technical data printout

•  Automatic recording of the position when crossing the border (card in the tachograph)

•  Recording of position during loading and unloading - driver's responsibility

•  Recording of the type of load (goods/people)

•  Increase of activity records on the driver´s card from 28 days to 56 days

•  Authentication of position at border crossing using OSNMA (Galileo)

•  Bi-directional ITS interface
